Spent 31 years in the USMCR, 4 years active duty, retired in 2000 at the rank of Col. Taught & have been an administrator at com col & university levels working at Richmond Com Col, ECU, U. of Neveda-Reno, GA Southwestern State U., & last 15 years at FDTC.  Married Susan Hutchins in Jacksonville, NC in 1975, we have three sons, Thomas at Coastal Carolina U., Alex 11th grade, & Matthew 8th grade.  We are members of the Florence Seventh-day Adventist Church. We have travel a great deal with the USMCR & work. Spent one week in Cuba in 2003 at an education conference at the invitation of the Minister of Education. I spent three weeks in Germany on a Fulbright Scholarship this spring (2003).

Info: After graduating from NC Baptist Hosp.School of Nursing in 1968, I joined the Army Nurse Corps. After 4 years active duty, I joined the Army Reserves. My unit was sent to Saudi Arabia for Desert Storm in 1991; and a year later I retired out with the rank of Col. I met my wonderful husband in Charlotte, NC in 1973; we were married in 1975, and moved to N. Myrtle Beach in 1977; where we remained until this past fall when we had finally decided that we had enjoyed all of the beach we could stand, and bought a home in Conway. After 24 years at Grand Strand Regional Med. Center, I accepted a position to head up Strand Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Center in 2001; and here I will stay until I retire. Mitch and I have enjoyed traveling throughout our years together; and hope to do more in the
future.
